So anyway if you love you some Gretsch there is nothing to fear from the Players Edition models IMOGretsch Guitars G6136TLH-WHT Players Edition Falcon w/Bigsby, Left-Handed, FilterTron Pickups, White has 0 ratings (Score Roll it up and it's got a lot of rock attitude as well. I can roll off the master volume and get a nice clean thumb pick tone or strat blues tones. The thinner body makes it a little more comfortable in your lap but the magic to me is the huge presence of the guitar and all the clean and pushed clean tones you can achieve rolling off the master volume with that treble bleed. It's as strong or stronger than the 6120 in that beefier bigger box longer scale length way. What the heck right? It was love at first strum and now after several weeks of play I continue to be REALLY impressed with the Falcon. A lightly used Black Falcon Players Edition popped up several weeks ago and I decided to try it. It has the same classic design featuresa massive 17-inch body, 2 3/4inch body depth, 25 1/2inch scale, maple neck, and laminated body construction that make it both big and somewhat heavy. I'm usually sort of old school when it comes to guitars and still lost in the 50's like a lot of TGP'rs so while I was peripherally aware of the "improved" Players Edition Gretsch guitars I just wasn't too interested. FEATURES The White Falcon has always been a big, bruising beast of a guitar, and the G6136T-LTV is no exception. Both were nice but for my ears and hands the 6120 was so much better that I wound up flipping the bigger ones fairly quickly. Once I had the Gretsch Bug I always wanted to find a bigger Falcon sized guitar to try and had short stints with both a Country Club and a Black Phoenix. Based on their stats, they don’t really look like they have much difference in terms of soundhollow body, with body material and pickups are largely the same. Killer guitar and there is not much better than a great 6120 IMO. 1 I’m looking at the Gretsch Black Falcon, White Falcon, 6118, Tennessee Rose, Countey Gentleman. Gretsch White Falcon Player’s Edition Review (2023) MaSimon Morgan 8 min read The Gretsch White Falcon has, since its inception, been one of the most strikingly good looking guitars on the market. My main Gretsch is a limited run 1959 Spec TV Jones equipped 6120 with quilted top and lacquer finish. On the other hand, the new Players Edition White Falcon is also very appealing, with the string-through Bigsby and also shallower body than a normal Falcon. Main differences in the Players Edition seems to be 1) slightly thinner bodies 2) mud switch moved to a lower tone pot 3) Bigsby on models that have one are now string through type 4) pinned bridges stock from the factory 5) locking tuners typical 6) upgraded caps supposedly and a treble bleed on the main master volume The Wildwood Falcon isnt a real 'Jr' as per say, but the slightly smaller body and shorter scale sounds like it would be a bit more comfortable to play. Some time within the last few years Gretsch started making some models in both a "Vintage" matching spec and a new "Players Edition" version of some of their classic models which is just sort of a modernization tweak to address some of the quirks of the vintage spec models.
